Art History A Good Start
There are a few good starters for people starting out learning about art history.
The desperate romantics is a TV show made by the BBC based on the lives of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood.
The moving power of art is an exceptional documentary series made by the BBC that gives you an intimate look at the dramatic ups and downs of a few artist lives.
The documentary series by A&E the Impressionists the other French revolution is very informative and it is primarily about the artist lives rather than focusing solely on their artwork.
The BBC has many good Documentary series once you scratch the surface they have far more technical documentaries about the work itself. Many of the documentaries can be found for free on YouTube.
The teaching Company or the great courses series also has many different courses on art history. A good starters course is How to Look at and Understand Great Art.
There are many other courses from them like Art of the Northern Renaissance, Art Across The Ages, A History of European Art, and so on. The courses are rather expensive but you can occasionally find them at local libraries and you can order them through the library. Not only furthering your own knowledge about art history but also granting access to the other patrons of the library.
